Halgrath is a Dark Ritual ambient project by russian Agratha. This is spiritual music of higher souls, which rises through suffering and madness. Dark ambient textures are woven with opera like eerie female vocals.

Interview with Halgrath

1. Give us a brief history of the project

It’s a very complicate question; I don’t think, my project was born someday, it was already there, inside. The question of Halgrath was a technic question – how to implement my inner dreams and memories and make it alive apart from myself. It could be music, or any other art, but i chosen dark ambient. It could say about my vision of the Universe more, than other types of art. But still, i like drawing and writing a novel at this moment.

2. What are your influences?

I always answering the same at this question: The only one of possible influences could be just Universe itself. Life, that were born inside of huge cosmic collisions and cataclysms – most incredible thing in the world! We not realizing it to often, but it’s a miracle…everyday i realizing this: how cold and cruel the space are, and how unlikely was this coincidence, when our planet could sustain right conditions for life existing.

3. What does your studio or recording space look like?

Nothing special, actually – my work place is somekind of compromise between professional equipment and family life. It’s not a secret, that i have a child, so we have a deal, that mom’s studio is very important thing in the apartament. I have some professional microphone, than lying between the plates and dishes)) maybe sometimes everything will be diffirent, and i sure it will be someday.

4. What do you feel as you record music?

Hypnotic condition… Sometimes i feel like i am almost flew away from my body)) i need solitude to fall down in the right state. So, it’s a deep nigth usualy, when i can stay completely alone and create new sound canvas.

5. If you had to listen to one artist for the rest of your life, who would it be?

It’s rather cruel!)) but i think, it will be a baroque music, maybe J.S. Bach?

6. If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?

It will be J.S. Bach, i suppose! One day this person changed my life, and let me go in the world of the perfect tones of baroque music… clean minor tonalities, pure sadeness and aceptance of inescapable fate…that what i was looking for and could’t find anywhere else.

7. What is something that not a lot of people know about you but you WISH more people COULD know?

I wish people know, i am not a “dark person”and not try to teach anyone some “bad” things. Esoteric and magic (in usual meaning of main people’s opinon) is not my topic. And ofcourse, my music is not about satan or such stuff(i know, a lot of Halgrath’s admirers will be disappointed). My music is dark, but still, not mad and not evil at all. I believe: the spiritual path are inevitably passes thru the dark edges of the life. The human soul needs

8. Who is your favorite prophet?

I have none.

9. Any last words?
